Every year it’s the same story. The heat creeps in, the house gets uncomfortably warm, and suddenly everyone wants a heat-reflective roof coating. Add family coming for Christmas, and October to December becomes our busiest stretch of the year, hands down.
We get it. Nobody’s thinking about paint curing times when they’re sweating through another Townsville afternoon, or when the in-laws are due to arrive in three weeks and the roof looks tired. The timing makes sense – you just want it sorted before summer really hits.
The Best Window: October to Early December
This is when you get the best of both worlds. Cooler temperatures are still around, giving the coating plenty of time to cure properly before you need it most. You’re also still ahead of the heaviest wet season activity, which means fewer scheduling headaches and a smoother job overall.
Why We Don’t Recommend Leaving It to Late December
As much as we understand the “family’s coming, the roof needs to look good” rush, our wet season typically sets in from November through to April. The later into December you leave it, the more likely storms are to delay your job or affect drying and curing time. A heat-reflective coating needs proper conditions to bond and perform the way it’s meant to – rushing it in unpredictable weather isn’t good for you or your roof.
We’ll always do our best to fit you in wherever we can. But earlier in the window is genuinely better for both your timeline and your results.

If you’re already thinking about summer heat or Christmas visitors, that’s your cue to book now – not in November. Good contractors get booked out fast during this window, and you’ll want your coating fully cured well before the heat (or the in-laws) arrive.
